For much of my life I have enjoyed “playing” with textiles in one way or another. In my younger years it was knitting and sewing, followed by weaving and spinning and eventually the dyeing of silk.

My training as a lab technician and its requisite knowledge of chemistry made the dyeing process an easy transition for me. For the past 20 years, I have worked almost exclusively dyeing silk yarns for customers all over the world. Eventually, though, I began working with other fabrics and now I work with all natural fibres.

In the last few years, I have become increasingly excited about natural printing and have taken the opportunity to study with a few very knowledgeable artists from Europe and Asia. Natural printing is a very individual technique that usually leads to unexpected and unique results. The anticipation I feel just before I open a newly dyed scarf is, for me, exactly like Christmas morning.

Would you like to wear a piece of art?

Head over to Pacific Arts Market's "wearable art" section to see which scarves are currently available.
